Wellington, FL (January 7, 2015)– The New Year and 2015 winter horse show circuit have officially begun— and international dressage rider Devon Kane is starting off strong. She continued her winning streak of 2014 with her first performance of 2015 at the Wellington Classic Dressage Season Kickoff on Saturday, January 3.

Kane and her self-trained Grand Prix gelding Destiny put their skills to the test at the Wellington Classic Dressage Season Kickoff, held at the Palm Beach County Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Kane and Destiny competed in the FEI Freestyle Grand Prix Open division. Although the talented duo has become accustomed to achieving great results in the show ring, their impressive freestyle performance beat their own past results as well as the results of their competition. Kane and Destiny scored an incredible 76.875 percent with their Grand Prix Freestyle, earning the blue ribbon and a fantastic score to ring in the New Year.

“Destiny pulled off a 76.8 in the Grand Prix Freestyle— which is our highest score yet— for our first class of 2015,” says Kane. “It looks like it’s going to be a good year! I’m so grateful to have our team behind us!”

For Kane, who is the head trainer at her family’s Diamante Farms in Wellington, Florida, things are definitely looking bright. The USDF Gold Medalist’s decade of training with Olympian Michelle Gibson and several years of training with German Olympian Hubertus Schmidt — coupled with hard work and patience — have truly paid off for the dressage star.

Kane’s most recent victory follows a series of triumphs in 2014, including being named the 2014 U.S. Dressage Finals Champion in the Open division and earning Grand Prix wins at the 2014 Great American Insurance Group USDF Region 3 Championships. At her last show in 2014, Kane continued to impress when she dominated the FEI Freestyle Open division with a score of nearly 74 percent at White Fences Equestrian Center in Loxahatchee, Florida. Starting off the new year by beating that high score with a 76.875 percent looks to be a promising sign for Kane.

More victories in 2015 are sure to follow and, with the 2015 Adequan Global Dressage Festival about to begin, Kane looks forward to continuing her success this winter.

When not in the show ring, Kane is training multiple horses and students at her family’s Diamante Farms in Wellington, Florida.
